Awana

Awana is a Bible-centered program for children. Its goal is to reach them with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him. The acronym Awana comes from the first letters of Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed, taken from 2 Timothy 2:15. For more information on Awana, please visit Awana website.

At CBCSJ, Awana is for children ages 3 through 6th grade. Awana meets at the Fellowship Hall on Fridays from 7:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., beginning in September and ending in June, except for holidays and special events.

The Awana Club at CBCSJ is divided into 3 age groups:

Cubbies

This is the Awana club for preschoolers (ages 3 and 4). Through fun activities and crafts and exciting Bible stories, the preschoolers learn basic truths about God, Jesus Christ, salvation and the Bible.

Sparkies

This is the Awana club for children in kindergarten through second grade. The main goal is to deepen the understanding of God's Word and expose children to the gospel and allow them to invite Jesus into their heart.

We combine fun activities and Biblical truths to excite the children's interest in the Bible and the Christian walk. Our monthly themed nights and fun game times encourage the clubbers to return every week and participate.

Truth and Training (T&T)

This is the club for children in 3rd grade through 6th grade. The name itself comes from Awana's goal to teach the truth of God's Word and to train the clubbers to follow Jesus Christ. The curriculum includes learning God's Word by heart and applying it to daily life.
